Inside the data
How a value earns its place.
The honest answer to "how can this possibly be true": identity that refuses to guess, research with receipts, adjudication with public rules, and corrections that ship as events. The same rules our agents are bound to, stated for humans.
- Act 1
Identity
Resolution scores candidates and refuses to force a match. Ambiguity is a verdict.
- Act 2
Research
Agents read manufacturer sources first; every finding lands as a sourced claim.
- Act 3
Adjudication
Sources earn reputation weekly; deterministic rules pick winners, visibly.
- Act 4
Honesty
Confidence is calibrated, conflicts are public, corrections are webhooks.
Act 1 · Identity
A GTIN is a claim, not an identity.
Identifiers attach to identities as evidence; they never are the identity. Resolution returns an honest verdict: exact variant, family match with the axes still open, new product, or ambiguous. Nothing is auto-merged above a threshold of doubt.
Every merge in the record stores its reasoning and stays reversible. If one is ever wrong, the correction is announced by webhook and the old identifier redirects forever.
Act 2 · Research
Not scraped. Researched.
An ingestion sends one agent per source: manufacturer first, then datasheets, labs, retailers, regulatory registries. Each finding is a claim with a locator, a content hash, and the raw string preserved; normalization adds, it never replaces.
Research jobs survive failure by construction: every step resumes where it stopped, and a created job always reaches a terminal state. Partial research still publishes, with its completeness stated.
Act 3 · Adjudication
Deterministic core, model on the margin.
Claims compete only under identical conditions, separately per epistemic class; a measured value never competes with a claim. Scores combine source weight, freshness, and method; a winner needs a clear margin or the group publishes as contested.
Source reputation is earned weekly from agreement with adjudicated truth, floored and capped, public. A source that keeps disagreeing with reality loses the right to win.
Act 4 · Honesty
Contested is a respectable end state.
When evidence disagrees beyond tolerance, the record says so: all candidates stay visible, a conflict ticket spawns targeted re-research, and subscribers hear about it the moment it happens. Nothing is smoothed over to look finished.
